Course Description

Expected Duration: Approximately 24 hours

Kantata users will be presented with in-depth training on the Insights Business Intelligence Solution.  Through a blended learning approach that combines recorded instructor delivery, demonstrations, and hands-on student lab exercises, the student will be provided with the information introducing basic functionality and navigation of Insights, be exposed to the business value of dashboards and reports, and instruction into developing the skills and knowledge necessary to fully utilize the rich feature set of Insights.  Students will learn how to create metrics, and then build and modify custom dashboards and reports using the Multi-Dimension Analytical Query Language (MAQL).  This course includes the opportunity for certification in the Insights Business Intelligence Solution.


Course Objectives

After completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify the suite of Insights dashboards and reports.
  • Describe the intended value provided by each of these dashboards and reports.
  • Navigate to the desired dashboards and reports within the Kantata product.
  • Configure Insights dashboards and reports.
  • Locate resources necessary to edit dashboards and reports within the Insights solution.
  • Locate and access the editors within Insights.
  • Describe the elements and syntax of the editors.
  • Modify dashboards and reports using the built-in editor functionality.
  • Access, create, and use metrics.
  • Describe the elements and syntax of the MAQL language.
  • Create and modify dashboards and reports using the MAQL language.


Who Should Take This Course  

The target audience for this course should meet the following criteria and prerequisites:

  • Familiarity and experience using the Kantata product.
  • A basic understanding of data analytics. 
  • Familiarity and experience with fundamental programming skills.
  • Ideally some experience programming in SQL.


Student Prerequisites

The following prerequisites apply.  It is recommended that the student have:

  • Prior experience or familiarity with the Kantata OX solution is required.
  • Kantata members that have access to Insights.
